Clark Atlanta University’s Center for Excellence in Teaching and Learning was established in 1999 with three goals:
- To equip faculty in the use of new pedagogies and evolving technologies that support the mission of the center (i.e., the enhancement of teacher effectiveness to improve student learning)
- To establish campus-wide learning communities that incorporate effective teaching strategies emphasizing critical thinking, improved writing, and interdisciplinary learning, and
- To systematically engage faculty in dialogue that promotes collegiality and in programs designed to promote peer-to-peer acknowledgement
As we meet and strive toward exceeding these goals, we have added two more:
- To expand upon our initial program offerings
- To introduce and sustain a viable Scholarly Teaching/Scholarship of Teaching and Learning (SoTL) initiatives that engage Clark Atlanta faculty in research into teaching related issues.
